"Are you ready for the country?"

"Because it's time to go!" -Neil Young

Honey pack up the shit-kickers and the hound. We're moving to the farm!

Congratulations are due to team member Joe Jones, or as he is now known at the University of South Carolina, the new Director of the Environmental Genomics Facility! Joe was offered the job after the hiring committee interviewed 19 other applicants and could not find anyone who could hold a candle to Joe's vast experience, dedicated work ethic, outstanding moral fiber, and love of the mighty gamecock. Now that is something worthy of celebration! Joe's start date is October 15th, so we'll be making the long drive east in early October. (For your viewing pleasure: this is the smaller of the two barns on the farm. I shot it on our last visit in May.)

Good and bad news!!!! Congratulations on the job, Joey! I bet you are excited to be heading back to your old stomping grounds! But, at the same time, we will be sad to see you leaving the Golden State. On the other hand, we are looking forward to visiting SC. I hope you are on Skype soon, so we can chat a bit. Greetings to Amanda and Foxie-Hound.

Wow. I only just caught this on the 28th... (We update so infrequently, we should be required to send out email alerts! After all, it would only happen about three times a year, right!?)

Anyway, this is fantastic news - it means I should be able to see a bit more of you guys, and I'm really excited for you! Happy farming!

You know... it would be classic to completely redo that barn (just a tiny bit smaller in size) and then put the current siding and roof on the exterior.)
